9/11♥

Standard

Not our normal post, but we feel this is important. Today is the 10th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States. The very first plane crashed into the World Trade Center’s North Tower at 8:46a.m., and was preceded by another plane into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. A third plane was crashed into the Pentagon. Later the fourth and last plane was crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers fought off the plane hijackers. These tragic attacks against our beautiful country resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths. Today we remember and show respect to those who lost their lives trying to protect ours.

While driving through my city I kept seeing four flags flying at all these different locations. I kept wondering why it was four flags. When I asked this question it took a few people before I got my answer. There are four flags because there were four plane crashes. In honor of the 9/11 attacks many places are flying four flags out of respect. It’s sad that this tragedy happened, but it made our country stronger. This attack showed the World that America was and still is a strong country, and in the face of disaster we will only rise to the occasion.

In honor of 9/11 we will not be Facebook, Twitter, nor any other social networking site between 8:46a.m. and 10:28a.m.! No we cannot take credit for this idea, because we saw this while on Facebook yesterday. We hope you will join us in this moment of silence to honor 9/11. Remember where you were when these attacks occured. Remember how you found out. Remember your first thoughts. Remember those who lost daughters, sons, wives, husbands, cousins, aunts, uncles, fathers, mothers, and friends in these attacks. Most importantly remember those who lost their lives in these attacks.

“This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world. Thank you. Good night. And God bless America.”– President George W. Bush
